About Sue Mead

Sue Mead
Sue Mead is an automotive journalist and author, as well as an off-road adventurer and racer. She travels the globe test driving cars and trucks, working for magazines, newspapers, television, radio and the Internet to provide vehicle reviews, as well as adventure stories about racing and automotive expeditions throughout the world. Mead began her automotive career as a part-time freelance evaluator for Four Wheeler Magazine in 1988, on the first team that included women as test drivers. She specializes in 4WD, has been a 4WD editor for CNN/fn television and has accumulated enough off-road miles to have circumnavigated the world. Mead’s adventures have taken her to 70 countries. She has participated in three record-setting adventures drives: The ’95 Arctic20Circle Challenge; The ’96 Tip-to-Tip Challenge; and the ’97 TransAmerica Challenge, which broke the previous TransAmerica Guinness Book of Records drive. She has competed in the Baja 1000 six times; was a co-driver on the famed Paris-Dakar rally in 2000; and joined the LONGITUDE Around-the-World drive team to help raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s Disease. Mead has been featured in the documentary “Into the Dust” and in the movie “From Dust to Glory”. Mead was inducted into the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2007 and was the Driver of Record, winning the Open Production Class in the 2011 Dakar Rally.
