Congrats to 2013’s Auto Roundup winners!

Monday’s weather at the Texas Motor Speedway complex was near-perfect. The competition gets tougher each year, which benefits consumers as automakers strive to develop new technologies, as evidenced by the Green Car category that included three electric vehicles and three hybrids.

There were 53 vehicles entered across the 19 categories by multiple manufacturers including GM, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen.

How many times did we drive around the track?voting good guys_2

50 writers spent 10 important hours driving around the track and evaluating cars. The rode dozens of times around the track and the infield to test the cars and how they handled. The manufacturers stood by explaining the features and changes from past years. In the industry it is as important as a political election.

The writers took the responsibility of voting very seriously.

Ford’s Mustang Shelby GT500 and dramatically redesigned Fusion won Car of Texas and Family Car of Texas, respectively, at the Texas Auto Writers Associations’ 2013 Auto Roundup. The new-for-2013 model, the 640-horsepower SRT Viper GTS was voted Supercar.
