Truck Nuts:  Fast Lane Truck’s Guide to Pickups

reviewed by Madelyn Miller

Truck Nuts sorts through all the confusion and choices you have with today’s pickup trucks. This book is sort of like a Bible for pickup truck owners.

Truck Nuts is a fun, in-depth read about the pickup truck industry.

ARE YOU A TRUCK NUT?

Is your truck your career, your office, your passion, your attitude and more?.

WHAT IS THE BEST TRUCK FOR YOU?

Kent “Mr. Truck” Sundling from MrTruck.com and Andre Smirnov from The Fast Lane Trucks explore that question and more in their book, “Truck Nuts’.

That’s why a Redneck and a Russian partnered up to write The Fast Line Truck’s comprehensive and fun complete guide to trucks. Andre Smirnov and Kent Sundling are an unlike truckin’ duo and yet together they wrote one of the most comprehensive guide to trucks.

HOW TO GET A GREAT DEAL ON A TRUCK

Look for Manufacturer Rebates. The automobile world is highly competitive. The pickup market is even more so due to closely matched products and an overwhelming variety of options.   Pickup trucks have a large profit margin baked in from the start. Truck manufactures often dip into the profit margin with sizable rebates on new trucks in order to gain competitive advantage. That makes the consumer the winner

AMERICA’S LOVE AFFAIR WITH THE PICKUP TRUCK

Where do large pickup trucks roam free? America! The only place in the world where can find pickup trucks around every corner. America is in love with trucks, and the affair is stronger than ever. We are conceived in trucks, born in trucks, live in trucks, work in trucks, have fun in trucks and die in trucks

I will never forget the first time I drove a truck. It was on a Ford media drive to test drive an F-series.  These trucks are not just well-built and well-designed. They are hard working trucks that do the job with style…and they are a lot of fun to drive.

We certainly put all these trucks to the test. On a rare ice-storm in South Texas, Ford handled the double challenge of critical automotive journalists and weather that was fighting them on every front. Ford had planned to drive us in their corporate plane from Dallas to Kerrville, and then go on to a ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

No such luck. Although trucks could have been driven there, planes could not fly-in. Ford quickly rerouted us, first to San Antonio, and then finally down to Corpus Christi, 200 miles to the South. The trucks then met up with several dozen eager but weary automotive journalists.

FORD TURNS THE WICKED WEATHER INTO AN ADVANTAGE

Although I was not an experienced off-roader (okay, I did do it once  before) I really did enjoy driving these trucks around the ranch. And the muddy fields gave Ford a great opportunity to show off the traction and other features of the trucks.

The Ford F-Series was a great place to start my truck driving career.
